The Institute for Managed Democracy was established in 2021 by policy practitioners who had watched good ideas die of partisanship and bad ones survive on it. We do not publish for one party, one administration, or one news cycle. We publish for continuity: the steady operation of American markets, institutions, and alliances across every transfer of power.

Our approach

• Evidence first. Every recommendation is grounded in what has worked, here or somewhere.
• Consensus by design. We draft with reviewers from both parties before publication.
• Continuity over victory. A policy that survives the next election is worth two that win it.

Our funding

The Institute is supported entirely by The Fourth Branch Foundation, whose generosity makes our independence possible. We accept no government funding and no anonymous gifts.
